Fiona trained and qualified as a solicitor at CMS Cameron McKenna and was an associate in the projects team at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, where she gained experience advising borrowers, commercial banks, ECAs and development banks on numerous complex project finance transactions, restructurings and corporate financings. Fiona’s project finance experience includes power and water projects, petrochemicals, renewable energy (biomass, wind and solar) and LNG. Fiona moved to Gide Loyrette Nouel in Paris in 2010 where she was made a partner in 2013 and subsequently moved back to the UK to head the London project finance team. Described by Legal 500 as “a phenomenal lawyer and great project manager”, Fiona has also worked on projects across MENA, Eastern Europe and Asia, drafting and negotiating both conventional and Islamic financing facilities and commercial project documentation. Fiona’s recent experience includes working for various lenders on a number of off-grid power projects across Sub-Saharan Africa and assisting a DFI in looking at financing solutions for off-grid projects. Fiona is also working on a number of power projects in Malawi (both renewable and thermal power) for developers, and representing lenders in respect of a renewable power project in Burundi. Fiona has worked across Sub-Saharan Africa -Kenya, Rwanda, Cap Verde, Mozambique and Zambia – including the first ever Scaling Solar project to reach financial close. As a French speaker, Fiona’s experience also includes advising on infrastructure projects in Francophone countries – including Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea Conakry, Madagascar, Morocco and Mali. Fiona also works in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and her recent experience includes working for advising a DFI in respect of structuring a bankable renewable energy document package with a Central Asian Government, advising on a proposed hospital PPP in Kazakhstan, advising a Lender party on the largest wind park in the Ukraine, and she has recently represented developers on four solar projects in Ukraine. Fiona has also worked on waste to energy projects in Europe, and represented FRAMATOME (formerly AREVA) on its construction and fuel supply agreements for the Hinkley Point nuclear power project in the UK. Fiona has also worked on a number of first-in-country landmark IPPs and IWPPs projects across the Middle East principally in Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
