Barry Burland holds the position of counsel at Trinity International LLP, having joined the firm in December 2012. Before that, he practised for fifteen years at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, working in that firm’s London, New York and Asian offices. Barry’s experience in project finance has included power, mining, infrastructure, basic industrial and satellite financings. He is also experienced in corporate and acquisition finance, structured finance, capital markets transactions and restructurings. Barry has acted for developers, investors, commercial banks and export credit and multilateral financing agencies. He has worked on significant transactions in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, India, East Asia and North and South America.

In recent years, Barry has led or been a senior member of the team on the following award-wining transactions: the project financing of the Hakan peat-fired power plant in Rwanda, the project financing of the Cenpower independent power project in Ghana, and the financing of the Law Turkana wind power project in Kenya. Barry has been ranked as an associate to watch and an up-and-coming energy finance lawyer by Chambers.

Barry is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia University School of Law. He is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and is admitted to the bar of the State of New York.
