Pierre Bernheim is a partner at Trinity International AARPI (Trinity Paris). Pierre specialises in project finance in the energy and infrastructure sectors in emerging economies. Prior to setting up the Paris branch of Trinity, Pierre was a member of the Projects (Finance & Infrastructure) practice group of Gide Loyrette Nouel in Paris. Pierre has significant experience in large-scale projects, legal transition work, legislative drafting and assistance to governments, IFIs, lenders, sponsors and equity investors, from initial feasibility analysis to international bidding processes and financial closings, where he ensures a clear and early identification of legal issues with a view to proposing the most suitable contractual schemes. He has extensive experience in structuring projects, preparing tendering documents, drafting and negotiating project documents (concession agreements and PPAs). His practice focuses on energy projects, both renewable, with a particular focus on photovoltaic, wind and hydropower, and thermal (natural gas and fuel oil). His infrastructure expertise also includes airports, ports, motorways, irrigation, water treatment, solid waste management, plant construction and hotels. His regulatory work expertise includes drafting several PPP laws on the African continent. Pierre has also gained significant experience on infrastructure acquisitions deals advising several infrastructure funds and on joint ventures and corporate reorganizations linked to infrastructure projects. Pierre has an extensive competence in the countries of West and Central Africa where the official language is French and the legal systems are mainly based on the French law. Moreover, Pierre possesses extensive knowledge of African regional legal systems and regimes, such as those of the CEDEAO (Economic Community of West African States), CEMAC (Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa), UEMOA (West African Economic and Monetary Union) and OHADA (Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa). Pierre is admitted to the Paris and New York Bars and received Masters of Law from Georgetown University (U.S,) and University of Pantheon Sorbonne (France). Pierre is a native French speaker and speaks fluent English.
