Simon Norris is one of the founding partners of Trinity and has a wide range of experience in the power, oil and gas, infrastructure, transport, mining and telecommunications sectors. Simon’s experience in those sectors ranges from corporate/M&A transactions, privatisations and project development to financing, re-financing and restructuring. Simon’s geographical experience extends to the UK, Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America.Simon has worked on a number of award-winning, first-in-market and pathfinding transactions in some of the world’s fastest-growing economies (as well as in some of the world’s poorest countries), including (i) the first independent power projects in jurisdictions such as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa; (ii) the first project-financed port privatisation in Africa (in Mozambique); (iii) the first toll road in Africa outside South Africa (in Nigeria); and (iv) the first wave of mobile telecom company financings, including in Nigeria, Tanzania and Zambia.Simon acts for developers, investors, financial institutions, governmental entities and has experience of export credit and multilateral agencies with a particular focus on energy and infrastructure transactions. Simon regularly provides training to clients and speaks at conferences.Simon is rated by various publications including The Lawyer, Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal and IFLR.Simon received his LLB (Hons) from the University of Exeter and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1999.
