Eric is Senior Counsel at Trinity International’s office in Singapore. Eric focuses his practice on project finance in the energy and infrastructure sectors and impact investing transactions. Before originally joining Trinity in its Washington, DC office in late 2018, Eric was an attorney advisor at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (since renamed the International Development Finance Corporation) under the Power Africa Program, an initiative launched by President Barack Obama to improve access to electricity in the region. While at OPIC, Eric worked on a range of project finance transactions across sub-Saharan Africa, including advising on infrastructure financing in Ghana, thermal and solar projects in Nigeria, solar projects in Malawi, Burundi, and Mali, wind farms in Senegal and Kenya and off-grid solar in Chad.

Since coming to Trinity, Eric has advised on some first-in-market transactions, including advising Gridworks (a subsidiary of British International Investment (BII)) on a bespoke financing arrangement for transmission grid upgrades in Uganda and advising the sponsors (FMO and Africa Development Corporation) on the development of the first wind farm in Djibouti. He has also advised a number of European development finance institutions including BII, Proparco, FMO, DEG, BIO, Norfund on a variety of impact investment transactions, such as an equity investment in mini-grid systems for villages in Nigeria, the financing of off-grid solar home systems in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, as well as microfinance lending in Indonesia and a hospital investment in Kazakhstan.

Now based in Singapore, Eric is currently advising the firm’s clients Asian Development Bank, International Finance Corporation and FMO on a variety of projects in the Asia Pacific region, including solar projects in Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, water and sanitation in Sri Lanka, wind farms in Mongolia and microfinance on-lending in Cambodia.

Prior to entering private law practice, Eric spent 14 years in international development, working as a trusted advisor to governments in Southeastern Europe and Central Asia on legal and regulatory reform initiatives with a focus on good governance, anti-corruption and land development.

Eric received his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center and is admitted to practice law in New York and the District of Columbia. Eric is a native English speaker, fluent French speaker and is part of Trinity’s Francophone team.
