In conjunction with its project finance services or on a stand-alone basis, Trinity offers a full construction law service with a focus on projects in emerging markets.

The firm has advised across a range of projects including power stations (both traditional and renewable power projects), process plants, port facilities, roads, highways, railways and other transport infrastructure, telecommunications installations and power transmission facilities.

We also have significant experience in designing and undertaking procurement processes for major contracts in compliance with the requirements of governments and lenders (including development finance institutions and multi-lateral lending agencies).

Some of the recent construction projects advised on by Trinity and its team members include:

  • 60MW Wind Project (Djibouti):Advising AFC, CFM and FMO on the EPC contract and O&M agreement for a 60MW wind farm project in Djibouti.
  • Solar IPPS (Burkina Faso):Advising sponsors on the EPC contract and O&M agreements for multiple different solar plants in Burkina Faso.
  • Takoradi Port – Shipyard Project (Ghana): Advising the sponsors on all aspects of a project for the construction, operation and maintenance of a shipyard facility in Takoradi Port, Ghana, including in relation to the Concession Agreement, EPC Contract, Shipbuilding Contract and related agreements and financing arrangements.
  • Amandi IPP (Ghana): Acting for the developers on the landmark Amandi 190 MW gas-fired IPP in Ghana, the only large scale base loan IPP to achieve financial close in sub-Saharan Africa in 2016
  • 20+ Renewables Project Bids (South Africa): Representing and advising various lenders in relation to over 20 bids for PV, CSP, hydro and wind projects EPC and O&M arrangements as part of the first, second, third and fourth rounds of the South African REIPP programme.

The construction disputes team has considerable experience in disputes arising from construction projects, including complex technical defect, delay and disruption and final account issues.  The members of the team have been involved in disputes arising from the construction of power plants, hydropower projects, process plants, refineries, desalination plants, natural gas and LNG pipelines, underwater sewage tunnels, mining and exploration projects, rail projects and airport projects across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, South America, Caribbean and Europe.
