Fiona trained and qualified as a solicitor at CMS Cameron McKenna before moving to Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP where she gained experience advising borrowers, commercial banks, ECAs and development banks on numerous complex project finance transactions, restructurings and corporate financings. Fiona’s project finance experience includes power and water projects, petrochemicals, renewable energy (biomass, wind and solar) and LNG.
Fiona moved to Gide Loyrette Nouel in 2010 where she was made a partner in 2013 and subsequently headed the London project finance team. Fiona has also worked on projects across MENA, Eastern Europe and Asia, drafting and negotiating both conventional and Islamic financing facilities and commercial project documentation. Fiona is a French-speaker and her experience includes advising the Lebanese Government in relation to an energy works conversion contract and greenfield energy project near Beirut, Lebanon, a mining major on corporate investments in Burkina Faso and financings in the Democratic Republic of Congo, EBRD and IFC in relation to a port terminal financing in Turkey, a French energy major in relation to the Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Project, sponsors in relation to the first Chinese covered project financing in Morocco and a French oil major in connection with the financing and construction of the Al Ezzel IPP Project (Power Deal of the Year Middle East, Project Finance magazine 2005) in Bahrain, the Al Hidd IWPP Project in Bahrain and the Sohar IWPP Project in Oman. Fiona has also worked on numerous infrastructure financings for both sponsors and lenders, including road projects and rail financings in Europe and telecom transactions in both Cape Verde and Burundi.
